Activities

The activities of the Forget Me Not Children's Trust include:

Freddie's Day

Freddie is our baby elephant mascot, and he never forgets.

Each year Freddie has a day when bereaved families, particularly brothers and sisters, come together to take part in fun activities, as well as to have the opportunity to remember the child who has died, and to meet others in a similar situation.

We also invite families with children whose Mum or Dad has died after treatment at the hospital.

Book of Remembrance

This book of names, photographs and poetry is kept in the Hospital chapel. It is important to know that our children will not be forgotten.

Memory Day

A Memory Day is held every five years at various locations around the South East of England, enabling families to meet together in beautiful surroundings.

Newsletters

A newsletter is sent to bereaved families at least twice a year, including letters, poems and articles received. This can reduce the isolation that coping with the death of your child often brings.

Befriending

We are working with the CLIC Sargent Care team, under the auspices of the Child Death HelpLine at Great Ormond Street, to offer a befriending service.

Bereaved parents, who have learnt to cope themselves and have received training, are available to visit families who are coming to terms with their loss.

Anyone who wishes to be visited should contact the CLIC Sargent team on 020 8661 3880.

The volunteer befrienders receive support to address any issues that arise.

Parents must have been bereaved for at least two years, before they will be considered for training.

Evening meetings

Meetings are held once a month on a Monday evening, which gives newly bereaved families the opportunity to meet and be supported by trained befrienders.

Christmas Service

A Christmas service of thanksgiving and remembrance is held each year in the Hospital chapel in early December, followed by a chance to meet and talk to other families.
